I made these long drop earrings by framing two beautiful pieces of copper rutilated quartz. What makes this stone so interesting is that the needle-like inclusions you see inside are actually rutile crystals, naturally rich in copper tones, trapped inside clear quartz over millions of years. Every single stone has a completely unique pattern of these metallic threads, making them a tiny, natural work of art.
To echo the straight lines and natural patterns trapped within the quartz, I hand-textured the wide silver surrounds with cross-hatched lines that mimic those shards of copper. I also chose an open-back setting so the light can shine straight through the clear quartz, really catching the warm metallic colours inside.
Every piece of my jewellery is handmade in Nantwich using recycled silver. Your order will arrive in a signature Ivy Cole gift box.
